Experimental Biomechanics (Elective – 6 ECTS)

The course provides in-depth knowledge on the mechanics of the human movement, with a focus on recent and anticipated developments involved in the treatment of major health challanges (low back pain, instability, aging, prosthesis etc.). Concept of biomechanics are introduced, ranging from a cellular to a whole-body level, familiarizing students with both, the theoretical background and the primary data collection/interpretation methods used in biomechanics.

The structure and mechanical response of tissues, such as bone, skin, ligaments, tendons and muscles are discussed along with experimental methods used in their evaluation under various loading scenarios.
