3D Bioprinting (Compulsory – 8 ECTS)
This course is organized around biomaterials in tissue engineering and the contribution of 3D printing in the engineering of artificial tissues and/or even organs. The main objective of this course is to provide students with the life science and engineering principles, which form the basis of several tissue engineering-related applications. Strategies in scaffold development, desirable cell and tissue characteristics, biomaterial features and bioprinting challenges are just a few topics that will be covered in the context of this course. Students will also get hands-on experience by engineering a polymeric scaffold/hydrogel for cartilage tissue regeneration applications, using advanced synthetic techniques and will also apply bioprinting techniques to develop artificial printed structures for biomedical applications.
